1 = 2? How to Destroy the Universe with Shitty Logic – Math 4 Monkeys

devide-by-zero

Did you know that 1=2? Don’t believe me? Check this out:

\[a = b\]

\[ab = b^2\]

\[ab - b^2 = a^2 - b^2\]

Now factor:

\[b(a-b) = (a+b)(a-b)\]

\[b = a+b\]

Which means that b = 2b and so therefore 1 = 2!

What’s the fallacy? Dividing by zero1. Can you spot where I did that?

Now go lift something heavy,
Nick Horton

  1. When you divide by zero, an angel’s wings are plucked off, candy is stolen from a baby, and the universe is destroyed in a massive suicidal implosion. Other than that, it’s not so bad.
